Mr WAN Siu-yin is an experienced Chinese History teacher (SKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School). He graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor's Degree in Arts. He is currently a member of the Gifted Education Teachers Network (Humanities) of the Gifted Education Section, Education Bureau. Before graduation from the university, he was invited to participate in the design of learning resources by the Personal, Social & Humanities Education Section of the Curriculum Development Institute, Education Bureau. He is familiar with the curriculum and assessment development of Chinese History. In recent years, he is actively involved in the curriculum reform and has shared his teaching experiences in many seminars organized by the EDB, HKEAA and the Hong Kong Institute of Education.

Synopsis

The innovative and highly acclaimed teaching methodology of Flipped classrooms advocates home learning by encouraging students to study those learning materials distributed by teachers at home so as to save more time for thorough classroom discussion. Such practice deviates from traditional teaching but may help teachers better cater for the learner diversity.

Mr Wan will share how he applied the software, Prezi in class to facilitate independent learning of gifted students and the reflections of the student participants of the school project through video clips.
